President Trump signed the “Great American Outdoors Act,” which is a bipartisan conservation act that funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund and addresses the maintenance backlog facing America’s parks and public lands. Trump says the Act “provides 900-million dollars a year in guaranteed funding to the Land and Water Conservation Fund so that all Americans can continue to enjoy our parks.” Coconino County is applauding the enactment of the Act. Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Liz Archuleta says the Act “will help to revitalize the infrastructure of federal lands and provide more public open space for recreation, a vital component to increasing the economic value of tourism.” Along with the signing, August 4th will become a fee-free day at all national parks to commemorate the Act. To celebrate the act this year, all national parks will be free of fees Wednesday.
