Governor Doug Ducey is shutting bars, clubs, gyms, movie theaters and water parks to close for at least the next 30 days. Ducey made the announcement Monday as COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in Arizona. In order for those establishments to reopen when the time comes, Ducey says “these establishments will have to attest and adhere to public health regulations and post it for the public to see.” He added, “enforcement will be led by local public health officials and local authorities.” He also says events of 50 people or more will be prohibited. The governor also pushed back the start of school to August 17th. Schools K-through-12 were supposed to begin in Flagstaff on August 13th. Ducey also stated hospitals will be increasing emergency preparations and there will be increased testing around the state. Before announcing the new executive order, Governor Ducey he repeated his plea to Arizonans to social distance and when you can’t, wear a mask.
