A hit and run accident in Prescott Sunday afternoon, led to a pursuit of the driver who caused it. Police responded to the call of the accident at around 4:40 p.m. Callers say the person had crashed the vehicle and was trying to leave the scene in the area of Highway 69 and Prescott Lakes Parkway. They gave police the description of the vehicle and the person. The vehicle was quickly located as it was pulling into a local business. The person tried to hit the victim’s vehicle again and refused to stop after an officer turn on the siren and lights. The vehicle left on Highway 69 hearing toward Prescott. The pursuit ended when the suspect turned onto a dead end street. Officers arrested 36-year-old Ashley Chaplin of Glendale. Impairment was suspected, possibly due to the influence of drugs. Chaplin was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on several charges including: felony endangerment, DUI, hit and run and felony unlawful flight from law enforcement.
