Gas prices continue to rise in Arizona, but is relief in sight? Triple-A Arizona says the average price of gas in the state is up over two-cents a gallon from last week to $3.78 a gallon. In Flagstaff, the average price of gas is getting closer to four-dollars a gallon. This week gas was up nearly three-cents a gallon to $3.94. Some stations are selling gas for $3.79 and lower. In Prescott, gas prices were up nearly three-cents a gallon to $3.74. Some stations are selling gas for $3.49 and lower. Triple-A spokesman Aldo Vazquez says talk of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 sent oil prices down a ten dollars a barrel last Friday. He says however, “it’s too soon to tell if fears of a global economic slowdown caused by the new variant will push oil prices lower for the long term.” He adds, “for now the upward pricing pressure due to tight supply and high demand seems to have abated and that will likely result in pump prices stabilizing.” Oil prices finished Thursday’s trading at just over $68 a barrel.
