Gas Prices Down Across Arizona But Still Over $3 A Gallon Heading Into Memorial Day Weekend

Gas prices in Arizona are down a little on average heading into the Memorial Day Weekend. Triple-A Arizona says the average price of gas is $3.12 a gallon, which is down a cent-and-a-half from last week. In Flagstaff gas is up over four-cents a gallon on average to $3.30 a gallon. Some stations are selling gas for $3.15 a gallon and lower. In Prescott, gas is down about two-and-a-half cents a gallon this week to $3.08 a gallon. Some stations are selling gas for $3.03 and lower. Officials say the reason for higher gas prices is higher demand coming off the COVID-19 pandemic. Triple-A is expecting travel to increase this weekend by 53-percent from last year, when demand was down. Due to lower demand, the average price of gas in Arizona for the Memorial Day Weekend last year was $2.17 a gallon.
