FUSD To Decide On Parental Attendance At Athletic Events Tuesday

The Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board will discuss allowing spectators into athletic events at their regular meeting Tuesday night. The Arizona Interscholastic Association is allowing two parents, or guardians, per student athlete to attend home games. The AIA decided last week to start allowing the same number of people to away games as well, as long as the home school approves it. Superintendent Michael Penca is recommending FUSD follow the AIA guidelines to allow parents to attend home games, leaving the decision for away games to the host school. As for returning students to in-person learning, FUSD schools are still in the red on all three benchmarks set by the Arizona Department of Health and Human Services, however there has been a decrease in all three categories over the last few weeks. FUSD approved a “Return to School” model back in October, but hasn’t set return dates due to high COVID numbers. The board will discuss the latest COVID-19 numbers and the “Return To School” model also on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The meeting can be seen on the FUSD Facebook Page.
