FUSD Governing Board Votes To Start School Online On August 17th

The Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board unanimously voted to start school online on August 17th and lasting until October 9th. Superintendent Michael Penca made the suggestion during Tuesday night’s governing board meeting. The return to physical classrooms would be determined on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in October. FUSD sent out surveys to parents back on July 7th. Penca said Tuesday night 57-percent of the surveys returned were in favor of returning to the classroom, however the current situation regarding the virus caused he and the board to be cautious. Each student will receive an iPad to use, plus any student who needs internet at home will also receive a hotspot. For more information, log onto fusd1.org.
