The Flagstaff Unified School District has issued a statement regarding yesterday’s school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Nineteen students were killed after an 18-year-old gunman entered the school and opened fire, after killing his grandmother at home. FUSD Superintendent Michael Penca says “we are heartbroken by the tragic loss of the lives of students and teachers in Uvalde, Texas.” He adds, “all community members play a critical role in the lives of our children. We ask for your active support and help in keeping kids safe. Please remain vigilant and report all suspicious behavior immediately to local law enforcement and to school officials.” Penca says school counselors are on hand to help if needed.
