The Flagstaff Unified School District has halted all athletic competitions until further notice due to a spike in the cases per 100-thousand population benchmark. FUSD officials say they were notified by Coconino County Health Officials that cases of COVID-19 have met the substantial community spread threshold of 114.5 cases per 100-thousand. Even though events have been put on hold, practices can still continue. FUSD says it will continue to monitor weekly public health data and provide updates as benchmarks are met for return to play. As of Friday, the football season is still set to start on October 2nd, however if the benchmarks remain above healthy standards, that could change.
