Residents of Prescott Valley will say goodbye to its long-time mayor today. Former Mayor Harvey Skoog passed away last week at the age of 81. He and his wife moved to Prescott Valley in 1982. He was first appointed to the town council in 1984. Skoog served as mayor from March of 1993 to January of 1998. He won a recall election in 2004 and was re-elected three times more, serving 14 consecutive years as mayor. Skoog and his wife Edna have nine kids, 59 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. The public is invited to line Skoog Boulevard at around 12:15 p.m. this afternoon as a procession travels around the Civic Center, and then join the procession as it travels to Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery for a public graveside service at 1 p.m. There will be a public Celebration of Life for Mayor Skoog at 10 a.m. Friday at the Findlay Toyota Center. Everyone is invited to honor his life and his contributions to Prescott Valley.
