Fourth Of July Weekend Was A Busy One For Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies

Fourth of July weekend was busy for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to 1,024 calls for service, which included both citizen initiated and officer initiated calls. Deputies made nearly 400 forest and community patrols and over 100 business checks. Between July 3rd and July 5th, deputies responded to 27 reports of fire ban violations and issued two citations for illegal campfires. They also responded to nine search and rescue calls, with at least four that involved juveniles who were missing or lost. Deputies also made 141 traffic stops, 27 involved speeding violations and they made two DUI arrests. A total of 58 people were booked on charges with 23 of them for felonies. There were over 400 more calls for service over Fourth of July weekend than the weekend before.
