Former State Representative Noel Campbell has withdrawn from the state Senate race in LD 1. He made the announcement Monday. Campbell served three terms in the state House, but sat out the 2020 election. He decided to run for the state Senate after Senate President Karen Fann announced she wasn’t going to run for re-election. Campbell said during the race he and his wife were under daily attacks and smears that “put a heavy weight on us.” He decided to drop out. Campbell was accused of domestic violence, by his wife, in 2020. That leaves former Senate president and Secretary of State Ken Bennett and former California attorney and real estate broker Steve Zipperman, the only Republican candidates left in the race. The winner will face Democrat Steve Fogel, who is a retired Prescott school teacher, in the general election in November.
