Former Prescott Valley town councilmember and vice mayor Mike Flannery has died. The three-term councilman passed away Saturday after a battle with cancer. Flannery was appointed to the council in 1998 and served 12 years on council until 2011. He was a U.S. Army veteran, who was discharged after being wounded in Vietnam. Flannery received four Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Former Prescott Valley town manager Larry Tarkowski says “Mike gave of himself and his enormous amount of energy in making Prescott Valley a better place.”
