One of the most successful quarterbacks in NAU football history has signed with the New York Giants. Case Cookus leaves NAU having thrown for over 12-thousand yards and over 100 touchdowns, in a career where he was injured parts of two seasons with broken collarbones. Cookus agreed to a free-agent deal with the Giants, who didn’t select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft and they have said goodbye to veteran QB Eli Manning. The Giants went with Daniel Jones as the starter for most of last season after Manning struggled. With Jones the starter, Cookus will battle Alex Tanney and veteran Colt McCoy for a spot on the depth chart as of now. NAU is still without a NFL draft pick in the last 15 years. Also, former NAU defensive back Kahlil Dorsey reportedly signed with the Baltimore Ravens. The last Lumberjack to be chosen in the draft was punter Paul Ernster, who was taken by the Denver Broncos in the seventh-round in the 2005 NFL Draft.
