A retired Flagstaff school teacher is making a run for U.S. Senate. Ann Griffin taught at Mount Elden Middle School before retiring at the end of last school year and owns Arizona’s Family Matters. She now plans on challenging current Senator Martha McSally next year. Griffin has a Masters in Public Administration and has been interested in politics for a long time. In her campaign, she hopes to connect with all voters. She says “if my message resonates with people, I should have a fairly good chance at appealing to voters who are having a rather difficult time deciding which party they identify with at this moment of our history.” Although she’s been a registered Republican since the 1970’s, Griffin says the party she joined doesn’t exist today. She says she has more moderate views on issues than McSally and says she doesn’t like the lack of civility in today’s political climate.
