In his last duty as President of the United States, Donald Trump gave pardons to 143 people, including Rick Renzi. The former District One Congressman completed a three-year prison sentence in 2017 after he was found guilty on corruption, money laundering and other charges in 2013. He was convicted of conspiring to use his congressional seat to make companies buy land from ex-business associates so they could repay a debt to him. Renzi served CD1 for three consecutive terms from 2003 until 2009 and now lives in Virginia after he was released from prison. At least ten current and former Congressmen put in a good word for Renzi, including current Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar.
