Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board Unanimously Votes For Mandatory Masking Through At Least September 29th

It didn’t take long for the Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board to vote to go to mandatory masking of everyone, including students, staff and faculty members while indoors on school grounds. Board member Christine Fredericks quickly made a motion to move to mandatory masks, told those gathered the reasons why and told the audience, “send me your hate mail.” The new school year starts Wednesday at all Flagstaff Unified School District Schools. The mandate has an end date of September 29th, however the board says they will extend it if conditions warrant. The state law, passed by the legislature taking mandate power away from school districts, won’t go into effect until September 29th. The motion also reads that if the law is in effect prior to the 29th, the board will meet to determine what to do next.
