Flagstaff’s three area fire departments have agreed to a partnership that will greater enhance the need for emergency service. The Flagstaff Fire Department has entered an automatic aid agreement with the Summit Fire and Medical District and the Highlands Fire District. The three emergency entities have agreed to act as one for the purpose of improved fire, rescue and emergency medical services and improved firefighter safety. Automatic Aid will provide the larger department, Flagstaff Fire, the benefit of having additional units capable of responding to single unit responses that occur in the city. Meanwhile, the smaller departments, Summit and Highlands, will benefit of having additional units respond to large incidents that happen in their districts. A central dispatch center will be involved and all three departments will train together as one.
