Summit Fire and Medical and Flagstaff Fire crews tended to a semi-truck fire, that spread into a small brush fire which closed Interstate-40 early Tuesday morning. Crews were dispatched to the Cosnino Road exit at around 2 a.m. When they arrived they found a semi-truck ablaze with a large column of fire and smoke that engulfed the trailer. Flames from the fire quickly spread across the road, through roadside vegetation thanks to very high winds. An engine from each department stretched attack lines and was able to bring the fire under control, with help of a Flagstaff Fire water tender. Interstate-40 was reopened a short time later. There were no injuries reported.
