Flagstaff Selected To Receive A “Green Schoolyard Grant”

The City of Flagstaff and the Flagstaff Unified School District have been selected by the Children and Nature Network to receive a “Green Schoolyard Grant.” The grant includes technical assistance and funding to support the FUSD open access green schoolyard program. The focus of the grant will be at Killip Elementary School, where the resources will be utilized to enhance learning opportunities for students as the new school is built. Local non-profit Terra BIRDS will be leading the project at Killip, which will ensure the schoolyard meets community needs for stormwater capture, pollinator habitat, vegetable gardening and a space to learn and explore. Flagstaff was one of ten cities selected for the grant. The project will likely kickoff next year.
