The Flagstaff Police Department is warning residents of a scam currently making the rounds in the city regarding warrant fees. Authorities say they became aware of the scam Friday when they were notified by residents that they were being asked for the fees by using a “Green Dot” or similar pre-paid cash card. The caller was using names and telephone numbers associated with personnel in the police department. Police remind residents that officers will not ask for payment for outstanding warrant charges, or request those payments be made by pre-paid cards or other forms of cash cards. For any questions or to report suspicious activity, contact Flagstaff Police at (928) 774-1414.
