A Flagstaff Police officer has been arrested in connection with a domestic violence case. Officers were called to a residence in the 500-block of East Twelve Oaks Drive back on February 8th just after midnight. When they arrived, officers met with the reporting party, victim, suspect and a witness. During the investigation, officers identified Officer Tanner Johnston as one of the parties involved. Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene to help assist the investigation. Deputies arrested Johnston for aggravated assault impede breathing, assault and disorderly conduct fighting. All charges involved domestic violence. He was booked into the Coconino County Jail. Officer Johnston was immediately placed on paid administrative leave and was required to turnover his firearm. On February 12th, Johnston was required to participate in an interview, however he chose to resign from the Flagstaff Police Department. He was an officer in Flagstaff since July of 2019.
