Flagstaff Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal-hit-and-run accident last Friday night on Fourth Street. Police responded to the 28-hundred block of North Fourth Street at around 8:25 p.m. on a report of a man laying in the road. Officers found 55-year-old Nelvin Thompson of Flagstaff, severely injured and they immediately started to aid him. Thompson was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center with significant life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Police received a call Monday from a local auto glass business reporting a suspicious vehicle that was brought into their shop for repair. When the car’s owner arrived at the business he was questioned by police. During the interview, 23-year-old Turner Kelly says he was driving as a delivery driver when he hit an unknown object that he said he never saw. Kelly said he pulled over, didn’t see anything and then went home. Kelly was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on a charge of failure to remain at the scene of a collision involving death or serious injury. Investigators continue to gather evidence involved in the case.
