Flagstaff Police Chief Dan Musselman To Retire In 2024

The City of Flagstaff is going to have a new police chief in 2024. Chief Dan Musselman has announced he will retire this year. Musselman has been the chief of police in Flagstaff since 2020, replacing Kevin Treadway. He has been with Flagstaff Police since 1995 and was promoted to deputy chief in 2012. Musselman has worked with the city continuously on budgets and helping establish the CARE team, which consists of a trained behavioral health specialist and a firefighter/EMT to help take the load off of police officers. Musselman did face challenges during his tenure. In 2022 he was placed on administrative leave after a massage parlor investigation. The city is already searching for a new police chief. Musselman will stay on board as chief for about six months to help the new chief get settled.
