A Cottonwood woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after she robbed a Flagstaff gas station at gunpoint. Flagstaff Police say 32-year-old Hertecia Begay went into the Mobile gas station on the 24-hundred block of East Butler Avenue at around 1:20 p.m., donning a black ski mask. She went to the counter and demanding money from the clerk while pointing a handgun at the employee. One of the clerks complied with Begay’s demands, while another clerk tackled her. They tried to detain her, but Begay broke free and ran across the street to Little America. Begay was found and was arrested at the Sinclair Truck Stop. Investigators later determined that the handgun was in fact a BB gun, which has a realistic appearance. Begay was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for evaluation of a prior medical condition. The case will be turned over to the Coconino County Attorney’s Office.
