Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans Testified In Washington Wednesday About The Grand Canyon

Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans was in Washington, DC Wednesday to testify about the importance of the Grand Canyon to Northern Arizona. Evans appeared in front of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands. She went to DC with Flagstaff Water Services Director Brad Hill. Evans testified in support of House Resolution 1373, the Grand Canyon Centennial Act, which was authored by Congressman Raul Grijalva and supported by Congressman Tom O’Halleran. The mayor spoke about the importance of the Grand Canyon as not only an economic driver in the region but an environmental treasure. She also spoke about the scarcity of water in the region and the need to protect it. HR 1373 also calls for the permanent ban of uranium mining in the Grand Canyon.
