Flagstaff Man And His Dog Rescued Off Mount Elden Thursday

Coconino County Search and Rescue crews were called to rescue a man and his dog off Mount Elden Thursday night. The Flagstaff man went for a hike with his dog at around 4 p.m. and intended to hike up Mount Elden starting at the Forest Service access point at the base off Skyline Road and Forrest Brook trial. He worked his way up to Blue Dot trail, through a network of social trails, which are unmarked. During his return down the trails he got turned around and lost. He called 911 at around 7:30 p.m. Rescue crews found the man and his dog uninjured at around 11:34 p.m. and was able to walk out of the area. This is a reminder that if you head out on the trails to remember water, food, a fully-charged cell phone and other survival items.
