Flagstaff Girls Beat Paradise Honors, The Boys Fell On The Road With Coconino Next Up

The Flagstaff Eagles took on the Paradise Honors Panthers in boys and girls basketball Saturday night. The eighth-ranked Eagles girls hosted the sixth-ranked Panthers in a battle of two top-10 teams. The game started out back and forth and was tied at eight within the first three minutes of the game. Then the Eagles put on a tough, full-court press and went on a 32-1 run en route a 47-19 lead at halftime. Flagstaff head coach Tyrone Johnson pulled the starters after three as the Eagles cruised to a 67-40 win. Gracelyn Nez led the Eagles with 25 points and Sage Begay added 14 points in the win. The last time the Eagles boys team played Paradise Honors, they lost by 51 to the Panthers in the Pepsi Holiday Tournament. Saturday night the Eagles battled, trailing by two points going into the fourth quarter, but an 17-6 fourth quarter by the Panthers, led them to the win over Flagstaff 58-45. Next up for Flagstaff is the Coconino Panthers Tuesday. We’ll have a double header with the girls game staring at 5:30, followed by the boys on KAFF Country 93.5/AM 930 and kafflegends.com.
