The Flagstaff boys and Coconino girls basketball teams got big wins at home, however the Coconino boys basketball team lost big on the road in Prescott Tuesday night. The Flagstaff Eagles were without center Nick Morrow due to a concussion, but it didn’t matter as they led start to finish to beat the Mohave Thunderbirds 67-37 to go to 2-0 in the Grand Canyon Region. Senior guard Nick Sneezy led the Eagles with 16 points and Max Fritch added 12 points in the win. The Coconino Panthers boys team took to the road to Prescott to take on the Badgers. It didn’t go well for Coconino as they fell 57-37. Flagstaff and Coconino will play in the Pepsi Holiday Tournament this weekend at Flagstaff High School. The Coconino Panthers girls basketball team were led by Wynter Huskie’s 17 points as they beat Prescott at home, 52-30. The Flagstaff Eagles girls team got a win on the road as they went to Bullhead City and beat Mohave, 57-19. The Eagles led 35-7 at halftime. Both the Eagles and Panthers will play in the girls Pepsi Holiday Tournament. The tournament runs from Thursday through Saturday.
