Flagstaff Fire Department And Summit Fire And Medical Tend To Chimney Fire In Fort Valley Tuesday

Flagstaff Fire Department along with Summit Fire and Medical Department tended to a reported chimney fire just outside of Flagstaff Tuesday afternoon. Crews were dispatched to the residence in Fort Valley at around 12:44 p.m. When crews arrived, smoke was blowing out from the chimney towards the rear of the home. Crews used attack lines running on the roof of the house to extinguish the fire, and returned a few hours later to reassess the situation and check if there were any additional hot spots. Due to the weather, crews covered any exposed areas of the chimney to reduce further damage to the home. The homeowners reportedly evacuated and are unharmed. Flagstaff Fire Department reminds the public to stay safe this winter by having chimneys inspected and cleaned.
