Flagstaff Fire crews tended to an injured hiker Monday morning on Mount Elden. Crews arrived at around 10:30 a.m. and made it to the hiker who had a severely broken ankle. Crews obtained baseline vitals, established IV access, and provided pain medication for the trek off the mountain. Crews were able to get the hiker down and into an awaiting ambulance. The patient was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. Remember when hiking pack plenty of water, food, a fully-charged cell phone and appropriate footwear. Also avoid hiking alone if possible.
