The Flagstaff Eagles lost more than a game Friday night, they lost two of their top three wide receivers in the process after falling to Marcos de Niza, 14-7 in the Skydome. The game was a physical, defensive battle for the most part. The Padres scored first after they fumbled and the ball went into the end zone and was recovered by a Padre player making it 7-0 Marcos. The Padres scored again in the third quarter to go up 14-0. The Eagles went on a long drive, with two fourth-down conversions, and finally got on the scoreboard on a one-yard run by Gage Betts to make it 14-7. The Eagles couldn’t score again off the Padres defense and that’s how the game ended with a final score of 14-7. The Eagles came into the game without wide receiver Jake Weidinger and running back Marcus Salcido. Then during the game, wide receiver Nick Morrow left the game with a left arm injury. Then Holden Sena left the game before halftime, returned to play in the second half, and then left the game in the second half with a knee injury. Flagstaff falls to 4-2, losing their last two games. They are off next week before returning to play October 22nd when they host Bradshaw Mountain.
