The Flagstaff Eagles showed that the culture change that needed to happen in the off-season is nearly complete after a spirited scrimmage against Lake Havasu Saturday at Flagstaff High School. Over the summer new head coach Mickey Clements and his coaching staff preached culture and leadership. Team leaders went out to fellow classmates and brought in students that either haven’t played in a while, or haven’t played at all. The mentality and energy are a lot better, so now they can work on practice and rebuilding a once proud program. On Saturday, the Eagle offense found the end zone a few times with the arm of sophomore quarterback Chase Brown and the running ability of junior running back Jaden Wetzel. Coach Clements was happy with the energy his team has shown all camp, but there will be things they need to improve on. He says the game “is definitely something we can build off of and can’t wait to get in the film room and and see where we can get better and focusing on that.” The Eagles kickoff their season Friday afternoon in the Skydome as they take on the Greenway Demons. We will have the game, starting at 12:30 p.m. on The Legend 93.5/AM 930 and you can watch the game by going to KAFFSports.com and clicking on the tab “watch the games.”
