The Flagstaff City Council will discuss its option to lease city-owned property at 17-hundred East Sixth Avenue, just to the north of the Basin Skate/BMX Park, on Tuesday. Council will hold an agreement with Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona over land adjacent to the skate park and the community garden. The organization has the option to lease the property while receiving funding for a permanently affordable housing project. Upon receiving this funding, the City will be obligated to lease the property for a term of at least 99 years. Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona plans to construct eleven three-bedroom apartments on the property with the community gardens on the site being relocated to an adjacent plot. Housing Solutions of Northern Arizona will pay the city 30 dollars each year the agreement is in place, with the City leasing the land for 100 dollars a year should a new lease arise.
