Flagstaff City Council Will Discuss A Citizens Petition To Declare A Climate Emergency Tonight

The Flagstaff City Council will meet tonight in a work session to discuss a variety of issues. Council will discuss a citizen’s petition calling for a climate emergency resolution and continue to iron out potential 2020 ballot measures. The petition wants to declare a climate emergency resolution and immediately elevate the Sustainability Section to department status, so staff can expedite the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. They will also receive an update on the city’s new priority-based budgeting program. Looking ahead to next week, council will vote on an intergovernmental agreement between the county and the city regarding the dark sky ordinance. They will also discuss an ordinance on whether to proceed with a development agreement between Nestle-Purina and Flagstaff. Tonight’s work session starts at 6 p.m.
