The Flagstaff City Council decided to take another look at the safety of the Fourth Street roundabout project Tuesday. Council did decide on buying a house in the path of the roundabout on a first vote, by a 6-1 vote with councilmember Adam Shimoni the lone “no” vote. The project was already approved by Council on May 19th of 2020 and will replace the stoplight at Fourth Street at Lockett and Cedar with a roundabout. The project would be very close to not only Pine Forest School, but Mount Elden Middle School. The project is also 1.75-million dollars over budget, which the city plans to pay from its new transportation tax money. Council will take up the project in a work session Tuesday, May 31st. A final vote on land purchases for the project is set for June 7th.
