Flagstaff City Council Returns To Session, Passes A New Project For Ponderosa Parkway

The Flagstaff City Council went back in session after a summer recess last night. Council members considered a zone change from rural residential to high density residential for nearly 12 acres of land on Ponderosa Parkway, right behind Starbucks. The developer plans to turn the property into condominiums, with some units valued under $300-thousand dollars. The developer told council the units will be designed with workforce housing in mind. Council unanimously passed the ordinance, with a final read coming next Tuesday. Council discussed a future agenda item request by Mayor Evans about possible regulations on new developments coming into town with a retail component, for the benefit of high density and not providing retail. That issue passed and will be on a future council agenda.
