Flagstaff City Council Race Tightens Up As Ballot Count Continues

The race for Flagstaff City Council has tightened. Becky Daggett still leads all votes with 22-percent of the vote. The race is for the final two seats up for grabs. Miranda Sweet is in second place as of Friday morning with 12,728 votes. Incumbent Jim McCarthy is third, just 11 votes behind Sweet. Anthony Garcia is fourth, just 55 votes behind McCarthy. In the mayor’s race, Paul Deasy continues to have a comfortable lead over councilman Charlie Odegaard by over three-thousand votes, 55-to-45 percent. Counting will continue in Coconino County today with an update expected by day’s end.
