The Flagstaff City Council voted Tuesday to postpone an amendment to the zoning code for land near I-17 and Lake Mary Road. Trinsic Acquisition Company is requesting the rezone of land on High Country Trail to build Aura Flagstaff, an apartment complex with 20-percent of its units classified as affordable. Several community members spoke in opposition to the development, but others spoke in favor, citing a need for affordable housing throughout the city. Councilmember Jim McCarthy proposed part of the parcel north of High Country Trail be divided by a fence to ensure that part of the land will be available for potential residents to use for recreation. The council voted to hold off on the first read of the amendment, requesting that the final proposal be put into writing, and the dividing line be added to the map of the parcel.
