The 2020 Monsoon Season has been a non-soon this year for Northern Arizona. The National Weather Service says the Flagstaff Airport received just over three-tenths of an inch of rain in August, making it the second driest August on record and ten-percent of normal. Oddly enough, most of Flagstaff did better than the airport. Parts of the city received between one-to-two inches of rain during the month. The driest locations were near the airport and near Doney Park. The month was so dry that Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport picked up three times more rain than the Flagstaff Airport did in August. Our normal rainfall for the month of August is around three inches. It was also the warmest on record with an average temperature of 68.8 degrees. Flagstaff had new record high temperatures on seven days during the month and set an all-time high for August with 93 degrees on August 16th. After a couple of nice days, we will see high’s back into the upper-80s by the end of the week.
