Flags will fly at half-staff around Arizona through Wednesday in honor of the lives of two U.S. Capitol police officers who died this week. Governor Doug Ducey made the proclamation yesterday and says they will stay lowered until sunset on Wednesday. Ducey says “I join all Americans in grieving the tragic loss of United States Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick and officer Howard Liebengood. Our prayers are with their families and colleagues at this difficult time. He adds; “Arizonans, like all Americans, were shaken by the horrific events that unfolded at the United States Capitol on January 6th. The rioting and violence that took place in Washington D.C. was shocking and unacceptable. We condemn it in the strongest terms.” Sicknick was killed after he was struck by fire extinguisher and beaten by a group of Trump supporters who were trying to enter the U.S. Capitol. Liebengood died over the weekend. His death has not been disclosed.
