Flags are flying at half-staff around the state Tuesday after Monday’s fatal shooting of a White Mountain Apache Tribe officer. Officer David Kellywood was responding to a shots fired call near the Hon-Dah Casino, south of Pinetop-Lakeside, when a suspect attacked him and fatally shot him. DPS officials say the suspect fled the scene, but was confronted by a second officer, who then fatally shot the suspect. Kellywood was 26-years-old and had been on the force for just nine months. He is survived by his wife and two children.
