Five Prescribed Set For This Week On The Coconino National Forest

Fire managers will be busy on the Coconino National Forest this week. Officials have five burns set for areas throughout the forest. Fire officials decided to go a day early on a 525 acre burn six miles northwest of Flagstaff at Fort Valley along Highway 180. Smoke is expected to move to the south and southwest. Fire crews will burn 300 acres near the Blue Ridge Ranger Station in the south end of the forest as well today. On Wednesday, 2,528 acres is set to be treated 16 miles north of Flagstaff. Smoke is likely to impact Highways 180 and 89, Kendrick Park, White Horse Park and Snowbowl Estates. On Wednesday or Thursday, crews will burn 800 acres six miles south of Mormon Lake Village and crews will burn 833 acres five miles northwest of Flagstaff on Thursday. Burns are set to be all one-day operations.
