The Grand Canyon has its first positive case of COVID-19. Grand Canyon acting superintendent Mary Risser says they were made aware Monday that a resident of Grand Canyon Village tested positive for coronavirus. The resident has been in self-isolation as of March 25th. The positive case comes as the Coconino County Board of Supervisors, Flagstaff City Council and Congressman Tom O’Halleran have called for the closure of the Grand Canyon National Park. On Friday, park officials closed many trails and some amenities, but the park remains open. The decision to close the park is in the hands of U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt.
