Fire Danger Increased To “Very High” On The Coconino National Forest

Fire danger levels in the Coconino National Forest have been elevated to “very high,” but it may not last long. Officials say with the uncertain timing of precipitation from Monsoon storms, they decided to raise the level. Fire restrictions are not yet in effect, but visitors are asked to use caution while in area forests. If you experience thunderstorm conditions and have a campfire going, you may want to extinguish it before gusty outflow winds move into the area so your fire doesn’t spread. Dry lightning could also be a problem in some areas. Rains are expected to increase over the next few days, so fire danger levels could be reduced if moisture falls on our area forests.
