Fire Crews Battle A Stubborn Fire That Threatened A Home In Doney Park Monday And Again Tuesday

A fire started in a forestry area of Doney Park on Monday and another one in the same area started Tuesday morning. Multiple fire crews responded to a fire that came close to a home Monday at around 4:30 p.m. on Orange Box Drive off Koch Field Road. Crews from Summit Fire and Medical and the Flagstaff Fire Department arrived and immediately started to protect the house from the fire. Witnesses tell KAFF News the fire burned structures on the property, but fire crews were able to save the house. Captain Mike Pickett, who is the incident commander on the fire says “we had crews out, off and on, all night checking the fire. Fire activity held up last night.” He adds, “then this morning, at around five or six, we got dispatched again for a fire in the same area with heavy fire involvement again on arrival.” Multiple fire crews rushed to the scene, however at least one structure was lost. Residents in the area of the fire were evacuated for the time being. The fire burned about two acres Monday. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
