A Flagstaff Man Is Killed After An Accident On Old Route 66 Wednesday Night

A Flagstaff man was killed after an accident Wednesday night on Old East Route 66. Officers responded to the scene in the area of North Test Drive and Old East Route 66 at around 8:10 p.m. near Home Depot. Investigators say a passenger vehicle collided with the rear end of a tractor trailer-type vehicle and caught fire. Witnesses told police the large vehicle had just turned right onto Old East Route 66 from North Test Drive, when the passenger vehicle hit the larger vehicle at a high rate of speed and caught fire. The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Stephan Timberlake, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing as investigators work to determine more details that lead to the accident.
