Westbound Interstate-40 was closed for a few hours yesterday due to a vehicle fire that killed one person. DPS says two semi-trucks collided at around 3:34 p.m. just east of Flagstaff. A white 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 60-year-old Harbhajan Singh Dhuna of Shelby Township, Michigan was travelling through a posted construction zone when it collided with the rear of a black 2019 International tractor trailer that was loaded with mail. The Freightliner became engulfed in flames and Dhuna was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and co-driver of the other vehicle were not injured. The situation closed the interstate at the State Route 99 Leupp exit, just outside of Winslow. Traffic was re-routed through Leupp to Townsend-Winona Road and through East Flagstaff back to I-40 while the accident was under investigation. The interstate finally reopened at around 9 p.m.
