An excessive heat warning will be in effect for parts of Yavapai County Friday morning through Saturday night. The warning will be for lower valleys of the county including Cottonwood, Camp Verde and Cordes Junction. The National Weather Service says highs could reach 110 degrees in some places. Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, especially for those working or recreating outdoors. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned space, stay out of the sun if you can and check on relatives and neighbors. Also, don’t leave children, or pets, unattended in vehicles. Take extra precautions if you are going to spend time outdoors in these areas the next couple of days.
