The Environmental Protection Agency is holding a community meeting in Dewey-Humboldt Monday to discuss cleanup efforts of the Iron King Mine and Humboldt Smelter sites. The EPA will host the meeting at the Dewey-Humboldt Library at 2735 Corrral Street. Monday night, EPA officials will attend the town council meeting at 6 p.m. The EPA told residents earlier this year that people, most notably children and teens, were playing in and around the mine and smelter’s tailings pile. The piles are dangerous due to falling dangers, as well as chemicals embedded in the piles. Monday’s community discussion runs from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.
